If you are looking for a design agency then you are already in either of the following situations:
The search for an agency can be a daunting one so here is our quick guide for what to look for:
Track record. The more the design agency understands about your sector and your objectives and challenges, the more they should be able to create campaigns (printed or web based) that will deliver appropriately to your audience and community. Ask for case studies and a track record.
Banish jargon. Sometimes jargon can get in the way - especially when it comes to the web or print terminology, even for those very experienced. It’s really important you are comfortable with the language that is being used and that you understand what your agency or designer is talking about. If you are confused - it’s not your fault, it’s theirs. Ask them to explain more clearly.
Usability knowledge. All communication is an user interface. It’s design and purpose should be simple and user friendly principally based around usability and accessibility whether it is a printed brochure, leaflet or website. Ask the agency about their knowledge of usability and accessibility.
Balance. A good design agency should be able to balance strong eyecatching design while adhering to set guidelines that may be in place. This should be a welcomed challenge for them. Ask what other work they have produced that balance these elements.
The Brief. A design agency should ask a lot of questions and put a plan together that outlines your project and help you get the brief right. Your communications need a strong strategy in terms of approach, timescale and budget. Ask for a summary and make sure these meet your goals.
