Your communications accessible by all

All communications need to be based around good usability and accessibility. The message needs to engage with everyone. Social inclusion is very prominent on your agenda and it is also very important to us.

Accessibility best practice

Your printed and online publications need to follow best practice in terms of accessibility (i.e. text size and colours, fonts and layout, easily read versions, translations, best practice simple navigation and structure). We will ensure that all citizens can easily access your services whether printed or online. Compliance to web standards comes as standard.

Disability and Discrimination Act (DDA)

The DDA means that you have a requirement to produce information about healthcare and social services in a format that is accessible to all, where it is reasonable, for you to provide it in that format.

For example, a hospital may need to provide forms and explanatory literature in large print or braille to assist people with visual impairments. Websites need to be accessible to users of large type and text-only browsers.

There are two million people with sight problems in the UK. Are your organisation's communications accessible?
